How the Romans Project Works
In this brief video, Pastor Scott Gilchrist explains the mission and vision of the Romans Project.
The Romans Project Way
Below are links to five short devotional videos where Pastor Scott explains the benefits of reading Romans repeatedly, writing out Scripture, then listening to Bible teaching to prepare pastors for proclaiming God’s word.

Directors of Ministry
The Directors of Ministry (DoM) are based in Portland, Oregon. They guide and direct the Romans Project. Together they make decisions concerning the ministry, encourage and lead the facilitators, and steward the finances the Lord has entrusted to RP.
International Director
The Global International Director is a bridge between the DoM and the Regional International Directors. He communicates ministry vision to the facilitators and supports and coaches the other International Directors on aspects of leadership.
Continent Directors
We have an African English Director, an African French Director, and an East Asian Director. They lead the facilitators and serve as liaisons between the International Director and facilitators.
They are faithful, Godly men who are able to understand the cultural context of those they are in leadership over and give wise counsel to the DoM.
National Facilitators
The National Facilitators are passionate about pastors in their home country receiving Biblical equipping.
Each country has a National Facilitator who invites pastors to take on the Romans Challenge. Following a pastor’s pledge to take on the challenge, the Facilitator will stay in contact with them to be a source of encouragement and accountability. They follow up with the pastors as they work to complete the challenge, offering accountability, prayer, and encouragement.
National Facilitators are an integral part of the commissioning (i.e. graduation) ceremony—giving the pastors who complete the challenge their certificates and their devices with recorded sermons, and commissioning them to take the next steps toward proclaiming Romans to their own congregations. They also watch for and develop leaders to multiply the ministry.
Ministry FAQ
-
Demand for Romans Project is greatest in rural areas of the world that do not have access to Biblical training. However, our target participants are all pastors of any area we enter. By "Pastor" we mean those with the title of pastor and others who are entrusted with preaching to entire church congregations 4+ times a year. We want to provide them with resources and a way to study Scripture. That being said, we believe the Romans Challenge will benefit any Christian in their walk with God. We therefore congratulate non-pastors with a certificate of completion at the same time we give pastors their device and certificate of commissioning.
-
The Romans Challenge has helped thousands of pastors throughout Africa, South Asia and SE Asia. After being established in a country for several years, the Christian community throughout the country becomes familiar with the ministry and those involved. The Facilitators are invited to share about the challenge at various conferences.
-
Upon completion, pastors receive a device with over 1,000 recorded sermons. The “Overview of Romans” is an 18 message sermon series preached in English and translated into eleven other languages. There is also a longer expository preaching through the book of Romans and preaching through eighteen other books.
While we are thankful that many church members are choosing to take up and complete this challenge, the devices with the recorded sermons are reserved for pastors and preaching elders.
-
The term “Ministry of Multiplication” indicates our model of exponential growth. When a pastor completes the Romans Challenge, he is encouraged to share the testimony of his experience with other pastors who may benefit from the challenge.
This has resulted in exponential reach of the ministry to Church leaders.

We believe that lives are transformed through abiding in the Word of God. The Romans Challenge focuses on giving pastors a way to immerse themselves in Scripture.
In addition to this, we have developed the Abide Challenge. This is a less formal challenge pastors are encouraged to share with their congregations. Participants spend thirty days reading and copying out various passages of Scripture. The primary goal is to help them develop a daily habit of Abiding in the Word of God. After finishing the thirty days worth of recommended passages, they are encouraged to continue this method of Bible study with other books on the Bible.
